Passing Strange and Wonderful

a new screen dance

Presented on tour withThe Lessening of Difference

Premiere date to be announced shortly.

Choreographer Ben Wright

Director Marisa Zanotti

Director of Photography Becky Edmunds

Editor Ian Ballantye

Sound Design Alan Stones

Performed by Delphine Gaborit, Robert Clark, Keir Patrick and Lise Manavit.

Following on from bgroup’s critically acclaimed performances as part of the National Dance 3 tour in 2010, ‘Passing Strange and wonderful’ has been entirely re imagined by director Marisa Zanotti, deploying two casts in two spaces in the one dance. Sticking faithfully to Wright’s original choreography Zanotti's riveting new film unites the worlds of  ‘studio/rehearsal’ with that of ‘performance’.

The four performers move through a series of fractured narratives, and the work continues to exemplify Wright’s interest in intimate dance work.

Explosive and enthralling - the work is framed by Alan Stone’s evocative sound design, that catches the minute sounds of breath and collision as the work reaches it’s unexpected and dramatic resolution driven by Ian Ballantye's extraordinary editing.

Distribution

bgroup are presently developing a unique downloadable ‘ap’ for iphone that introduces the work to a wider audience and Education packs including a DVD of the work in it’s entirety, will also soon be available.
